All About Fenugreek (Methi) with Benefits

I use fenugreek, known as methi, in many ways. I use whole dry seeds, sprouted fenugreek seeds, ground fenugreek seeds, and plant the fenugreek seeds. I then use in my recipes. Not only recipes but did you know that fenugreek paste can be used on skin and hair to get silkiness?

An Indian household cannot do without methi or fenugreek seeds and leaves. It is used in almost every Indian preparation be it dal, paratha or curry. But what you might not know is that methi or fenugreek is a rich reservoir of medicinal properties that imparts many health benefits.

Sprouting fenugreek seeds is easy. Easy sprouting directions (jar method):
SOAK- Put 1 to 3 Tbsp. seed in a wide mouth jar. Cover with mesh and secure with rubber band. Add water, swirl, and drain. Add 1 cup cool water and soak for 4 to 8 hours. Drain well.
RINSE – Twice a day, refill jar with cool water, swirl, and drain. Invert jar and prop at an angle in a sink or bowl.
ENJOY – Ready to eat in 3 to 6 days. Refrigerate to store. (Sprouts can be refrigerated for up to two weeks in a sealed container. (Sprouts store best when they are fairly dry- do not store immediately after rinsing.)
