Masala Kakdi – Spicy Cucumber Salad

Typically, masala kakdi is made using wedges of cucumber with garlic, cumin, chilli and lime masala squeezed into them. During wedding, this is a must salad with Dal-Bhat. For the variations, you can use black pepper instead of green chilis. During summer, cucumber is very versatile. Besides it’s cooling property, Cucumbers contain multiple B vitamins, including vitamin B1, vitamin B5, and vitamin B7 (biotin). B vitamins are known to help ease feelings of anxiety and buffer some of the damaging effects of stress.

I love to prepare this salad when I have fresh, crunchy seedless cucumbers on hand. I also grow some in my garden as well. You can watch me harvesting some fresh veggies from my garden in the video below.

Seedless and thin-skinned cucumbers are the best salad-quality cucumbers you can grow. Crisp, bitter-free, tender-skinned fruits require no peeling.

Fiber and water-rich vegetables like cucumbers can boost your mouth’s saliva production, which in turn helps wash away the bacteria that cause the odor in the mouth. You can also add some mint leaves to enhance the flavor and nutrition.
