Commonly consumed by Gujaratis, Khichdi is declared as a national food by the government. This is a dish which is nutritious with its contents and healthy in flavours. This is a combination of rice, lentils, vegetables, and ghee. It can be consumed with curd or buttermilk.
Variety of Khichdi is prepared depending on the menu of the day. Plain Khichdi is made with Rice and lentil, seasoned with turmeric and salt, smeared with ghee before serving. Masala khichdi is prepared with Rice, lentils & vegetables with special blend of spices known as Garam masala.
