Kadai Paneer

Kadai paneer is the combination of paneer, onion and colorfull bell peppers coated with spicy tomato sauce, aromatic spices and herbs. Kadai means “wok” and paneer is Indian cottage cheese. This is absolutely very tasty and easy dish to make. This goes very well with soft phulkas, roti and even simple pulao.

  • 2 cups paneer (cottage cheese cubes)
  • couple of tbsp cooking oil
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 2 red whole chilis
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 cup red capsicum (simla mirch) cubes
  • 1/2 cup green capsicum cubes-all color capsicum can be added
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 3 cups finely chopped tomatoes
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon degi chilli powderor adjust to your taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp kasoorimethi
  • 1/4 tsp garammasala powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander for garnish
  1. Heat oil in the handi, add whole red chilli, asafoetida, turmeric powder.
  2. Then add red capsicum, and green capsicum, sauté for two minutes.
  3. Then add ginger garlic paste, chopped tomato, degichilli powder, coriander powder and salt, sauté till tomato becomes a pulp and is well done.
  4. Put in the cubes of cottage cheese, cumin powder, kasoori methi and garam masala, suate for two minutes.
  5. Remove the pot from the flame and serve hot after garnishing with chopped coriander.
